Advantages of High Side current sensing:
- Load current including the op-amp current can be sensed. In low side current sensing, the op amp current cannot be measured. This results in better protection mechanism if implemented using current sensing
- As the high side current sensing doesn't involve sense resistor connection to ground, measurement is not affected by ground noise
- Compared to low side current sensing, the sense resistor is connected between supply and load and hence, additional resistance between load and ground is not required (unlike low side sensing)
- For high side sensing, we use differential amplifier for amplification, providing high common mode rejection
- Can use both single single or dual supply for the op-amp used
