The current passing to the load is passed through a sense resistor and this sense resistor is placed between the power supply and load.
One of the advantages of High side current sensing compared to low side current sensing is that current drawn by the operational amplifier can also be sensed.
Differential amplifier shall be used read the voltage across the sense resistor and interface the analog voltage to the micro controller.
The value of sense resistor, resistors in differential configuration to be selected based on the current drawn by the load.
