While including VIA in the PCB design, calculating the aspect ratio is very important. We cannot use as much size of VIA as desired, the aspect ratio has to be calculated to get to know if the VIA is feasible to include or not.
Aspect Ratio = Board Thickness/VIA diameter
Also, it can be mentioned as,
Aspect Ratio = Drill Depth/Drill diameter
Aspect ratio must be 5:1. Generally, for TH via it is considered as 10:1 and micro VIA as 0.75:1
Any VIA which is longer than it's outer diameter cannot be manufactured. These become crucial when we are using dense boards and high speed designs.
