Analog Circuits - Slew Rate

Analog Circuits - Slew Rate

Slew Rate is defined as the rate of change of output voltage. It is measured in V/uS. The slew rate indirectly defines the response rate of the operational amplifier. for an ideal operational amplifier, slew rate is infinite.

Few points about Slew Rate in opamp,

  • Slew Rate is mentioned in the datasheet under no load condition
  • Slew Rate depends on temperature. The response rate of opamp decreases with increase in temperature
  • Slew Rate depends on the bandwidth of the opamp used. Wide Bandwidth opamp has good slew rate response
  • Higher the closed loop gain of opamp, better the slew rate
  • Slew Rate of opamp is mentioned in the datasheet for unity gain condition
