When IBM unveiled the 2nm technology, everyone knew that this is a big breakthrough in the semiconductor industry. 2nm is actually a big announcement as like of Apple, Intel haven't gone to that extent. While Apple right now could go up to 5nm and are expected to come up with 3nm in future, Intel CPU process node is hovering around 10nm. What advantages do we get with 2nm technology? Infact with each advanced semiconductor node process we shall have below advantages:
- Higher circuit Density - higher transistor density
- Higher performance - fast switching
- Lesser power consumption
2nm technology compared to 7nm process is expected to consume 75% lesser power and 45% higher performance.
Transistor density refers to the amount of transistors in square mm size.
