Considering the security aspects of any device is very important. Especially in domains like Internet of Things (IoT), where things connect to the internet and critical decisions are made automatically, security is of utmost importance. Sometimes there might be a need where data needs to be localized and nothing need to be sent over network. In such cases, there is no need to connect to network and the device can be completely isolated form the network. The scenario where the device is completely isolated from network is called air-gapping. There might not be need of a network related design in that particular device.
