Resistors Type: Wire-wound resistors

Resistors Type: Wire-wound resistors

Some of the important information about Wire-wound resistors:
  • High resistance wire (Nichrome wire) wound on ceramic kind of material (ceramic is the insulating material here)
  • These are the resistors which have high inductance
  • Considering the inductance, these resistors cannot be used at higher frequencies as inductance dominates
  • Preferred for Low frequency or DC applications only
  • Available up to higher wattage as well like 100 Watts
  • Highly accurate
  • Resistors available in wide range from ohms to kilo ohms
  • Can be operated at higher temperature
  • Categories: Power type and precision type
Wire-wound resistors cannot be used for Higher frequencies, like for example RF applications.
