HC-SR04 is a popular distance measuring sensor used in various applications.
The HC-SR04 works by emitting a short ultrasonic pulse and then measuring the time it takes for the echo to bounce back from an object. This measurement can then be used to calculate the distance to the object.
Here are some of the specifications of the HC-SR04:
- Operating voltage: 5V DC
- Quiescent current: less than 2mA
- Working current: 15mA
- Operating frequency: 40kHz
- Maximum range: 400cm
- Minimum range: 2cm
- Accuracy: up to 3mm
- Trigger input signal: 10µs pulse
- Echo output signal: high level signal (5V) proportional to the distance
- Interface: 4-pin (Vcc, Gnd, Trig, Echo)
It's important to note that while the HC-SR04 is a popular and relatively inexpensive sensor, it may not be suitable for all applications and may require calibration or modifications to work optimally in certain situations.
To start operation, Trigger of SR04 must receive a pulse of high (5V) for at least 10us, this will initiate the sensor will transmit out 8 cycle of ultrasonic burst at 40kHz and wait for the reflected ultrasonic burst. When the sensor detects ultrasonic from receiver, it will set the Echo pin to high (5V) and delay for a period (width) which proportion to distance. To obtain the distance, measure the width (Ton) of Echo pin.
