Simulations play a major role in the success of high speed designs. Simulations can be pre-layout or post-layout. Pre-Layout simulation helps to determine the considerations to be taken in the design and also gives input to the PCB Layout engineer on the care to be taken. Post-Layout helps to analyze the issues with the PCB Layout. Hyperlynx provides option to export the PCB simulation file to the Line sim with the specific nets. For either of these simulations, models are very important. The model type depends on the type of the component used.
