Raspberry Pi 3 has two display connections:
- HDMI
- DSI
HDMI port can be used to connect standard HDMI displays while the standard TFT-LCD touch panel displays are connected to DSI port. The connectivity shall be as below:
We can see from the image above that from DSI port the 15-pin ribbon cable is connected to LCD driver board. The protocol for DSI connection is defined by the MIPI alliance. The connectivity shall have a standard pin out which has 2 differential data lines.
