Electromagnetic Compatibility - 6 (ISO 7637-2 and ISO16750-2)

If you are designing an automotive product, whether it be 12V or 24V operation, it is important that you understand the effect of transients and qualification tests required for the product. ISO 7637-2 and ISO 16750-2 are two standards which talk about the transients and the tests involved for qualification. The important criteria for these tests is the identification of class of the Unit under Test (UUT). Products are classified form 'A' to 'E'. ISO7637-2 deals with the scenarios where electrical transients are observed on supply lines due to the variation in loads. ISO 16750-2 deals with scenarios of over voltage, voltage interruptions.
