With the current trends in the industry it is becoming a necessity for acquiring programming skills from an early age. This early could be at a high school stage and there are number of companies in the fray trying to capture this market. Especially, it is always fascinating for students to get trained and work on Electronics as it involves activities starting from applying principles of physics and then the most interesting part - the programming.
If we take the case of Indian education system, most of the corporate schools are running workshops to students on Robotics. There are some summer camps and regular training by start ups occupying the robotics training market. One of the major disadvantage of such training in Robotics is students find it hard understanding the Mechanical and Electronics basics and adding to this they are just given a system and asked to program something while all this process looks artificial and doesn't look like natural learning. However, the kind of enthusiasm, knowledge and awareness these programs bring in cannot be ruled out. These act as stepping stones for the students future and plan at a early stage on how to phase out their career.
Now, instead of Robotics, if the boards like BBC Micro:bit are used, it allows students to try lot of hands on things. This helps them to understand things more easily and edit programs on need. Adding to this Micro:bit team has with training schedule and training data already prepared. So, it's just not easy for only students but easy for trainers as well. BBC Micro:bit is nothing new, they have been in the market from 2016.
About BBC Micro:bit:
