Differences between various SDRAM, DDR memory interfaces:
We are all aware while buying a phone, we always check for memory specifications. The buyer checks the RAM capability and makes a choice to buy once he feels the RAM is enough. For a no-voice only, it is clear that higher the RAM, higher the speed of the phone. Technically, if you talk about RAM, it is a temporary memory where the operating system image will be copied to RAM and will be executed from there once the mobile is powered on. the same applies to any electronics device with RAM. SDRAM has been replaced by DDR in all the modern embedded applications because of the fats access and high band-width that is available with RAM. the different generations of DDR are DDR1, DDR2, DDR3 and DDR4. As the generations have passed, the power consumption ahs reduced and speed has increased for the DDR.
The main difference between SDRAM, various DDR SDRAM versions are as shown in the below table :
Notes:
1. To ensure proper data transmission between DDR controller and DDR memory the supplies should meet JEDEC specifications.
2. DDR4 supports pseudo open drain terminology (POD) for termination.
3. HyperLynx has support for simulation of DDR4 as well as LPDDR4.
