Power Integrity Analysis: What PDN has to achieve? - Part 3

The Power Distribution Network (PDN) in a board must achieve the following:

  • Provide clean power to the chips connected. This meant voltage must remain stable with minimal fluctuations in different scenarios like switching
  • Ensure adequate current reaches different parts of the circuit without excessive resistance or losses.Maintains low impedance pathways for power delivery, improving efficiency and reducing voltage drops.
  • Ground bounce must be minimized
  • Reduces electromagnetic interference (EMI) and power supply noise that could disrupt signal integrity.
