DHT11 and DHT22 are low cost Temperature and Humidity sensors available in the market. These sensors are used by engineers and hobbyists world wide in their applications. If you are planning to build to build a simple weather sensing application at home, it is the DHT11 or DHT22 that you will be using.
- DHT11 and DHT22 both give output on DATA signal as shown in above figure once voltage is applied
- VCC is between 3V to 5V
- DHT11 and DHT22 give digital data on the DATA signal
- DHT11 and DHT22 has analog sensors on board and the analog output from sensors are converted to digital data by on-board chip
- Thermistor is used to sense the temperature on the DHT11 and DHT22 module
- Humidity sensor is used to sense the humidity on the DHT11 and DHT22 module
- DHT11 and DHT22 measure relative humidity
- DHT11 and DHT22 have OTP memory which saves the calibration coefficient
While DHT11 and DHT22 look the same in terms of appearance, there are several changes in the specifications between them. Here is the list of differences between them.
There is a 4-pin DHT11 as well and below is the pin diagram for the same.
