Renesas, one of the leaders in Automotive industry has announced that they have released first a wireless Microcontroller based on 22nm technology. This is the first ever microcontroller available with this process node. The main advantage Renesas has gained with this node is the lower voltages with lower power consumption. Another big advantage is the size of the die as more features are integrated in a small space meant smaller chips. The wireless MCU announced supports BLE.

This wireless MCU chip categorized sunder popular RA family of 32-bit Arm® Cortex®-M microcontrollers. This chip includes Bluetooth® 5.3 Low Energy (LE) with the integration of a software-defined radio (SDR). The BLE has backward compatibility with 5.2 and 5.1 versions. Renesas has assured long term availability of the product which further enhances its usability in products. Renesas has announced that this chip is expected to be available in the market by 4Q 2023. Meanwhile, Renesas is sampling the new device to selected customers.
