Arduino Uno is one of the popular microcontroller board in the market. Arduino has released a new variant of the board named Arduino Uno R4 which is based on the 32-bit microcontroller and also has Wi-Fi/BLE capability. RA4M1 series of microcontroller is used on this board. RA4M1 is ARM CORTEX-M4 processor based Microcontroller. ESP32-S3 from Expressif is used for Wi-Fi/BLE capability. So, that means we are getting a NodeMCU kind of board and Arduino Uno kind of board in a single board with advanced capabilities. We see a popular USB Type-C connector on this board for providing power/connecting to the system. Board also has the popular Qwiic connector to support various sensor boards. The board has similar SHIELD connector to be backward compatible with the add-on boards. 8x12 LED matrix is special attraction of the Arduino Uno R4 Wi-Fi board.
Boards are not yet available in India but some of the distributors are accepting back orders. The cost of the board is around Rs.2200 in India at the moment.
Along with Arduino Uno R4 Wi-Fi, Arduino Uno R4 Minima is also released. Arduino Uno R4 Minima is low cost version and is without wireless capability. Arduino Uno R4 Minima is based on same RA4M1 processor.
Both Arduino Uno R4 Wi-Fi and Arduino Uno R4 Minima supports CAN interface without CAN Transceiver. We need to have external transceiver to have physical connectivity.
