TDA7052 based Audio Amplifier

TDA7052 based Audio Amplifier

TDA7052 is a single channel 8-pin Audio Power Amplifier. TDA7052 has a fixed maximum internal gain of 40dB. This audio amplifier can give a maximum output of 1W output. Below is the schematic diagram of the Audio amplifier.

TDA7052 is a mono amplifier and not a stereo amplifier. This meant there is only single channel.

TDA7052 has 8-pins out of which pin number 4 and 7 are not connected. So, these pins are not shown in the figure.

Power supply:

TDA7052 can operate over a range of 3V to 18V. In this circuit we provided a typical voltage of 6V. Voltage is provided to TDA7052 from P3 connector.

Input:

Audio input is provided to the amplifier at the P4 connector and this can be a audio Jack as well. In this circuit, we have shown it as 1x2 1.27mm pitch header. POT R1 is used at the input for volume control.

Output:

The output of TDA7052 shall be connected to a speaker and connector P5 is provided.

Package:

TDA7052 is available in DIP8 package. So, when you are using this package, you can solder to PCB directly or a socket can be used.

TDA7052 has maximum operating temperature of 150 deg C. However, the full power of 1W cannot be used over the entire temperature range. This can be understood by the below power derating curve provided in the datasheet.

Current Consumption:

When a 8-ohm speaker is connected at the output of TDA7052 and for a maximum load of 1W, the current consumption shall be,

P = I*I*R => 1 = I*I*8 => I = 0.353A
