Disadvantages of Procedural Programming Language

When we talk about Procedural Programming language, we definitely have C Programming in mind. While we are not going to talk about the disadvantages of C here, let us see major Procedural Programming language disadvantages.

• Generally, when we develop code using C programming especially for the embedded devices, we take module by module when needed meant we develop functions and there is lot of dependency on the previous functions. so, if there is issue in a particular module, it is difficult to say which function has an issue, the programmer has to trace through all the functions individually eating up lot of time. If we take the case for example writing the UART function, we can think the dependency of the code on various other processor based modules
• Re-usability of procedural programming code is less. 
• Maintaining the code written in procedural programming languages for complex systems is a tedious task. As number of modules are developed, there shall be lot of functions and new developer in the team trying to understanding that complex code is nightmare.
